I guess she just needed some french fries...

Some days I just don't understand my child. She will be so content playing, or reading her books, or watching some form of an Elmo DVD. Then other days, she is so clingy, fussy, and outright miserable. What gives? (I know, I know...we all have those days but it is just harder when you have a 17 month old who can't communicate exactly how she feels) Yesterday was a mix of both of those.

We had a great day. We played in the morning. Went about our normal routine. Matt had some errands to run in the morning so we missed him and then we all ate lunch (or our dinner) together before he left for work. Around 11:30 Mady was sitting on the stairs with both of her night nights. That is her cue she wants to go to bed. Off she goes. She sleeps her normal 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Love the bed head. Can you see the attitude?

She wakes up with attitude, and I mean some serious attitude. Usually when she gets like this, it always helps for us to get out of the house. Change of scenery usually does the trick. So we head off to the dry cleaners to drop of Daddy's shirts. Usually, she is super friendly to the cute little old lady's who work there. Nope, not today. She would not even say Hi or smile. Crank-ola!

We head home and from about 4 o'clock until 6:30 it was pure hell. Honestly, it was. I considered putting her to bed at 6 o'clock! She didn't want her dinner. She spilled the oatmeal all over herself. She crumbled a cracker in her hands and proceeded to throw it around the room. She kept standing up in the bath tub during her bath. She just wanted to be held (which if you know Mady, is so unlike her). Of course, we cuddled and watched some Elmo but then the fussiness would just start again. I gave her some Tylenol because I figured her teeth were bothering her (I can see one of the eye teeth coming in). By 6 o'clock I was at my wits end. And I was hungry.

We headed to get something to eat. She was fussy in the car on the way there. Finally, I gave her some of my french fries on the way home! The girl was thrilled. Attitude started a changin! We devoured most of my french fries by the time we got home.

For the next half hour, she was as happy as can be. She walked around the room with her french fries saying "nummy" aka Yummy in goob language. It really was so cute.

By 7 o'clock it was bed time. We read our books, said our prayers, and gave our billion kisses. I let her sleep with Mr. Waddle Waddle as he is known around here. She was trilled yet again. I turn off her light and head down the stairs and I hear her sayings, "Hi Waddle Waddle" over and over again. Melt my heart!

Finally, around 7:30 I had to go back upstairs to tell her enough talking and it is time to go night nights. She slept with Mr. Waddle Waddle for the rest of the night.

I guess all the girl needed were some french fries....

  1. This gave me a good laugh! This happens to me sometimes at work in the infant room. You try everything you can think of and all the baby wants is to sit and eat a cracker or puffs or something! Isn't it crazy!!? I miss the goob and I can't wait to see how she has grown! Love you! ~ Shannon
